Your first period can come unexpectedly, so having a small kit just in case is helpful! That’s why we made a list of products that would be beneficial to you prior to it.
Don’t worry if you get your first period without these things on hand, because although you may feel uncomfortable, a trusted parent or adult will be happy to provide you with the necessities. 26% of people around the world already experience menstruation, so there is no need to feel alone.

Menstrual products
Products such as pads for people who just got their first period can be best because they are easy to use. As you become more comfortable, however, you may want to keep a cup or tampons on hand as well.
Clean underwear
It’s important to keep an extra pair of underwear on you just in case you leak while on your period.
Hair ties
Your period unfortunately can be uncomfortable, so if you have long hair bring hair ties to lessen the discomfort of hair in your face!
Lip balm
Lip balm is not a necessity but it can feel nice to keep it with you when your lips are feeling chapped.
Hand sanitizer
Sometimes you’ll be in a place where it can be difficult to clean up. It’s useful to have hand sanitizer or wipes on hand for those moments.
Ibuprofen
During your period you might have symptoms like cramping, stomach aches, muscle aches, or bloating. Painkillers like ibuprofen can help reduce these feelings. Make sure you check in with your parents/guardians before taking any medications.
Spare leggings or shorts
Just in case you accidentally bleed through your pants. Don’t worry, it happens to everyone!
